Procurement Manager - IVD
Location: San Diego, CA (hybrid)


We are developing an automated, benchtop diagnostic system to provide lab-accurate results for a comprehensive suite of health tests. Our proprietary approach, for which we are seeking FDA clearance, is intended to fulfill the promise of delivering accessible and affordable blood testing from one small blood sample, in minutes, in a retail setting or private clinic.


We are seeking a results-driven Procurement Manager to lead our Purchasing Department. In this role, you will be responsible for supervising and overseeing all activities related to the centralized purchasing of materials, supplies, and equipment for us. You will also be the direct manager for a team of Procurement Specialists.


Position details:
You'll be responsible for managing the day-to-day relationships with suppliers to support production and delivery of our diagnostic products into diverse, global end markets. This role will establish a seamless flow of raw materials to ensure healthy inventory levels and building a supply roadmap as we ramp up for production. Responsibilities include:


* Lead development of purchasing strategies to maximize material availability while optimizing inventory levels
* Plan, organize, and supervise our purchasing operations; reviews, monitors, and approves purchase requisitions
and placement of purchase orders for both direct and indirect material
* Measure and report key purchasing and inventory metrics
* Develop, implement, and maintain key supply risk mitigation plan
* Responsible for vendor and raw material maintenance in the ERP system
* Manage vendor quality issues in collaboration with the Quality team
* Establish and execute process to communicate specification changes to suppliers
* Collaborate with Planning to generate monthly, quarterly, annual forecasts for vendors
* Perform the more technical and complex tasks of the purchasing team including performing purchasing activities
that have a significant impact on costs and operations
* Identify, solicit, and implement opportunities for cost savings (materials, vendor managed inventory, freight,
etc.)


Background experience:
* 8+ years of related supply chain, operations and/or biotech experience.
* Bachelor's Degree highly preferred
* Strong partnership and collaboration mindset; ensuring relationships are a forefront of our strategy,
emphasizing the company and team over personal goals
* Effective communication, both oral and written, with the ability to communicate frequently, clearly, and timely
while keeping both internal and external parties aligned to deliver impact at pace
* Experience working in ERP Systems
* Problem solving skills, with very strong analytical skills which can be utilized to proactively identify and address
issues with a solution-oriented approach with excellent time management skills
* Negotiation expertise, with knowledge of contract structures and language
* Be detail-oriented and fastidious, but retain a big-picture view of broader priorities and program objectives
